I have a model 1100 lawnboy weedeater that I was replacing the recoil on when the spring let loose .What is the trick to getting this thing back in

No real trick. Patience and a pair of safety glasses (in case it slips and comes unwound before you get it back into the housing). You might think about taking it into a small engine repair shop and let them wind it up for you if you have too much of a hard time with it.
