Question oil and gas leak- 6hp MTD Mower

Have a 6 hp, MTD Yard Machine, walk behind lawn mower. Gas and oil drip out through the carb and air filter untill gas tank is completely empty. Mower is standing, not running. (wont start)
A best guess cause for this problem would be much appreciated.

kla,

I don't know the exact engine you have but if your carb has a bowel at the bottom of the carb then your float needle is likely hanging. If the above be the case, remove the bowel and spray a blast of carb cleaner between the inlet needle and seat while working the float up and down. Afterwards you should be able to stop the gas flow by lightly raising the float.

If this doesn’t do it you may need to replace the needle, seat or both. Your engine numbers will be needed for further help.

God Bless,

I agree, your inlet needle is some how not closing.Maybe couse from a piece of trash between the needle and seat.Maybe the float has a hole in it.Maybe the float pin wont let the float work as it should.

In eighter case your carburetor needs cleaned.Change motor oil, cause gas is gona be in the oil.And dump the fuel tank and refill with known "CLEAN"fuel.

Or just cleaning the carb.may not work.....the trash had to come from the fuel tank.
