Briggs 14.5 OHV Pushrod Positions

Briggs 14.5 OHV Pushrod Positions

I made the mistake of removing the pushrods in a 14.5HP Briggs OHV engine not knowing that they were different. One is steel and the other is aluminum. I suspect the steel pushrod goes with the exhaust valve but could someone positively confirms this for me? Additionally, what are the valve clearance adjustment specifications?

Correct. Clearence between rocker arm and valve stem is .005

Lawn Boy Mower Problems

Tonight, I was cutting my grass and it seems like that my Lawn Boy mower tries to take control of me. It will go forward by itself without me pushing it. I don't even have the self-prepelled handle activated as well when this happens. And I am also having a hard time pulling it back while it is on as well. A few years ago, it had a similar issue and a belt of some sort had to be replaced to fix it. It is also low on oil as well and I don't know if it's causing a problem as well. craftsman won't start

Let me start out with that my ex husband used to have a lawn mower repair shop, and I learned a little back then (15 years ago). So, when it comes to friends having carb problems I can usually clean them out and fix them up. This time it didn't work and I'm not sure what else to check. It is a 10HP Tecumseh and she said it just quit running two years ago. It was left to sit with gas in it. I took the fuel tank off and cleaned it out and dried it well. Then I cleaned the carburetor out well also. The breather line (I think that is what it might be called) was cracked, so I replaced it thinking this might be why it quit working in the first place. When I turned the key it did not even attempt to start. I thought I'd at least getter it to sputter. :) I took the filter off and there was moisture so I believe that means it is getting gas, correct? I replaced the oil and the spark plug. Any suggestions? I don't know how you guys help people so much through these forums because it is so hard to make sure you have all the pertinent information down.
