Mower Deck Clutch

I have a Craftsman Commander Riding lawn mower with a 15.5 HP engine. When I engage the mower deck, it shuts down the engine. I can turn the blades by hand but they seem stiff. I can't find any seized pulleys, but since there is only me I can't watch the deck clutch while engageing to see what it's doing

Most likely is a safety switch cutting out the ciruit. Usually I think the seat switch is the culprit but sometimes there is a reverse switch that may cause it also.

Thumbs up

Thanks, thats what my Dad told me to check, also. I would have looked in the owners manual, but I bought it used and don't have one. Sears has been reluctant to send one

Some online literature is available. Perhaps owners manuals and parts listings and any accessories.
If you can locate the model #.

I agree, make sure the seat switch connector is pushed on tight.
