MTD Snow thrower leaking gas when tilted

I just picked up a MTD 3hp 21" snow thrower that sat for a while. Once I got it started ( run's great) I noticed that if I tilted it foward or backwards it will leak gas. I'm thinking it could be the float but like I said the engine is running really good. It also doesn't have an air filter on it and I don't know if this is typical of snow throwers this size.
The model # is 310-181-000 / H309b

Thanks, Vince

Also

I don't have a manual and cannot find any info on the web. If you know of a site please reply.

Where is the gas leaking from exactly? As for the air filter, it's possible it had a special airbox to use during cold weather that was removed in the interim...

Most snowblowers have no air filters. If the gas is leaking around the bowl, then the bowl gasket is probably bad.
