weed wacker wont start

I got a homlite string trimmer and the primer bulb wont fill with gas. It will suck it up then blow it out in tank when you push it again. Something must be plugged up. Can anyone help?

Sounds like the check valves in the primer bulb circuit aren't working. Removal and cleaning should solve the problem.

Remove the fuel line from the carb to the primer, push the primer, with finger over hole it should suck as the bubble expands, and do nothing when pressed. Remove the line from primer to tank, this should blow when primer is pressed. If the primer is working and not sucking fuel, check for restriction from the filter in the tank to the carb including the carb.

When I press the primer bulb air pushes out, when I let up on the bulb nothing happens... had the carb off soaked the body in carb cleaner replaced all the paper and rubber gaskets.. and it still wont full the bulb... fuel lines replaced along with new filter... The only thing I can think of is air leaking at the tank where the lines go through. The unit kicks right over on starting fluid..... i'm baffled here?????

Did you pull the needle valve out of the carb before soaking? Does carburetor cleaner spray through all passages, including the needle valve through the inlet screen?
