We have a 1992 Lawn Boy - Model #M21BMR - self propelled - 3 speed console shift. We had a hard time starting it several times and now an authorized service center says the Blade Brake/Clutch is out and needs replaced. We ended up purchasing a new mower because my husband didn't want to pay the $300 plus to the service center to fix the old one. I like a challenge and want to fix the old one myself. Where can I get manual type instructions on replacing the Brake/Clutch? JBA

Best source for the information your looking for is the manufacturer. Write or call them directly.

Service books write specifically for one model line are less confussing to read, therefore easier to learn from.

Another source is the generic repair manuals sold at many mower shops.

Hands on experience is another great learning method.

Since you already have a new mower, go ahead and remove the blade brake from the old mower. Notice how it is attached and install the new clutch, exactly as the old one was.
