Electric starter Grinding noise

I have a 8hp tecumseh snow blower bought last year. Now when I go to use electric starter and push the button it makes a loud grinding noise and will not start. Any suggestion what it may be ? HELP!

Grab a hold of the starter and see if it's loose to the block. It most likely is and you've sustained damage to the gear. In order to remove the starter, you'll have to take the two screws that hold the fuel tank in place and move it slightly out of the way in order to access the upper two starter mount screws. Bear in mind that it is not necessary to remove the two uppers as they're forked mounts, but if it is loose you do want to inspect these for any damage to the threads and repair as needed.
