If it has a fuel filter, change it. If no fuel filter, there is an obstruction between gas tank and float needle valve.
Hop this helps,
Mike

this is a horizontal crank? no float carb then more then likely, but have a diapragm, and pickup tubes, i'd get a rebuild kit and diapragm with it, and tear it apart and soak it good. whens the last time it ran? fuel stabilizer was used?

keeps quitting..

This may help...
Sometimes you have to remove the cylinder head and clean off the carbon build up. This happens over time with many L-Head engines. What occurs is when carbon build up is to the extreme it soaks up the fuel entering the combustion chamber, thus eliminating combustion, therefore ignition has nothing to burn.

V8driver has you on the right track. Clean the carb and replace the diaphragm.
