Unhappy wont stay running

I have a 13hp yard man snowblower with a Tecumseh engine.

Once started you can not let off on the choke. It backfires and then quits running no matter how you adjust the choke. The spark plug has been replaced, and in two days is already black. It was taken to a local repair place- was told water in fuel and ice in carb. They said cleaned it and it worked fine. I got it home- ran it 30 minutes, and it is running really rough again. What should I do next- does it sound like a fuel problem? I have changed the fuel and bought fresh. When it quits running, other then the backfiring, it sounds like it is just running out of gas. What do you suggest I check next if I want to try and repair myself?

Thank you,
Don

Angry new problem-- need help!

I have drained all fuel cleaned out system- snow blower was running fine at an idle. As soon as applyed the auger then that is when engine is slowing down- backfires then quits. Now can' t get it resarted- at least not right now- is it overheating? Why did I have it running then not with applying the auger? Can it be a belt problem? Belt was replaced last week. All adjustments seem to be fine. I am at a loss and don't know what to do. Not to mention we are in the middle of a blizzard and can not even get car into drive unit I can clear the snow- have gotten 12 inches today!! Anybody know what to do with the snowblower??

not knowing what you have:

check the fuel filter
drop the float bowl if there is one and check the main jet for a blockage
an engine will idle or even run without a load on a restricted fuel delivery.
also confirm that there is no abnormal load on the system like a blocked auger or seized bearing / pulley.
did you make any adjustment to the carb ?
if you can, list the engine make , model, and spec or type.

just responded you your last post. nothing there about running on choke. that tells me your main jet fuel is blocked. you are compensating for a reduced fuel delivery by reducing the air supply (choked)

it is a tecumseh engine- 13hp. on engine says model is OHSK130 and then it says YTPXS3582AF. I have not made any carborator adjustments. I took the bowl off and looked- didn't see anything- I will check the auger/ pulley-
let you know,

thanks

"I took the bowl off and looked- didn't see anything"
the main jet is located in the cast tube that the bowl threads to. may look like a flat head screw. remove it and check for blockage.
