no spark on 12.5hp briggs

Its a 12.5 hp briggs from a lawn tractor. I will hopefuly put it on a sawmill but cant get a spark. There is 2 wires in a little plastic clip hanging out the side and one wire coming from the coil. Do any of the wires need to be grounded or have power going to them to get spark? Also what are these wires for? I really appreciate anyones help on this.

the two wires in the plastic clip come from the alternator and charges the battery and powers the headlight while the engine is running

the wire coming from the coil is the stop switch. If it touches the engine there won't be any spark.

Additionally, if the single wire (black, which is the ground (kill) wire) from the coil has a bare spot it will ground this way and you will have no spark. If this is OK and the coil is gapped properly (.010") and you still have no spark then the coil is no good.

the wire from the coil isnt touching ground so must be a bad coil. Ill do some playing around tomarrow.
