Craftsman/Tecumseh Lawn Mower Running Rough

I have just fitted an new carberetor on my four year old 5.5 hp lawn mower (1/3 the price of a new mower!). The plug is in good shape, the gas cap is letting air through, the fuel in new, and it is still running very rough. I do not know how to adjust the carb. There is a screw on the bottom of the bowl, but no High/Low adjustment screws as best as I can see. The snow has finally melted up here and I'm anxious to get at it. Thank you very much.

So there is a screw, in the nut bascially at the bottom of the fuel bowl? If this is the case, thats the high speed needle. Screw it in till its snug, back it out 1.5 turns as a baseline and fine tune when its warmed up, may be 1/8 less to 1/8 more open. It should throttle up and down with little to no lag.
