Poulan Super 25 Chain Saw

I have recently tried to revive a Poulan Super 25 Chain Saw that has not been operated in 15 years.

First - I checked if the unit had a operational ignition by checking for a spark. It did. In addition I replaced the fuel line as it was shot.

Second - I put in fresh gas, mixed per specs.

Third - Tried to start with no luck. The engine turns over and the compressions seems good, but no live action.

Fourth - I purchased a carb rebuild kit and replaced the various gaskets, screens, and used compressed air to blowout all openings.

Fifth - Reassembled and tried to start the unit per Mfgrs instructions. The unit fires with the choke on then stops and will not restart until it sits for awhile. Then it will restart with the choke on.

At this point I don't know what to do.

Please help.

ok Dave after about a year or two the fuel varnishes the inside of the carb and turns to powder. You'll have to disassemble it and soak it in a strong cleaner,in which auto zone or advanced auto parts sales (for about $10.00 or $15.00).if you cant find any, regular vinegar will do (replace all diaphrams too).Take all rubber parts out of carb.b4 soaking it.
