Craftsman Push Mower deadman switch
I have a push mower that will start if I spray starting fluid into the carberator but it will not continue to run. I suspect that the problem lies in the dead man switch but I don't know how to test it. Any suggestions?

Since it starts when you use starting fluid, it is not the switch.
You might want to re-post this in the Outdoor Power Equipment Forum.
I suspect that your carb is gummed up and needs a thorough cleaning.

Yes, that means its not the switch... as the switch would cut the spark.... and wouldn't run. You either have trash in the carb, or its gummed up..... either way after you make sure the fuel supplys good... take it off and get a gasket kit, tear it apart and soak it in carb cleaner and blow it out with the cleaner and put her back together and try her then.
