B/S 3 hp engine problem

I have a Mclane mower with a Briggs/Stratton 3 hp engine. It starts
fine with no problem. After the warmup period it will stall out if I
open the choke completely. It runs if
I choke it about half way - although not real good. It tends to surge just a
little bit. I have replaced the sparkplug, air filter, and used fresh gas. I'm sure it has something to do with the carburetor but this thing
does not have a fuel/air mixture adustment screw. Any ideas as to what might be the problem? Thx!

So if I understand correctly it only runs with the choke ON. It sounds like you need to give the carb. a good cleaning. A tiny little passage or orifce is clogged and not allowing enough fuel which makes the engine run lean when you are not choking. Choking makes the mixture richer (more fuel) by either restricting the air coming in or it opens up another jet to allow more fuel.
