Oil Leak

Not sure if I am doing this right or not. I have a Sears lawn mower with a Briggs & Stratton 6.5 HP engine. Yesterday my son put oil in it and it started blowing oil out from under the air filter. I looked at it and it appears he may have put to much oil in it but also the oil is coming from a tube that runs all the way across the engine. Do you think I have just got too much oil in there or do I have a more serious problem.

Yes he could have... drain the oil till its at the full mark on the dipstick. Next time I'd keep a 20 ounce bottle for this (fill it up with you favorite engine oil), they can't take a whole quart. Btw, if the paper airfilter is wet with oil, replace it.

I had this before with a 5.5hp craftsman and it was too much oil. These dont take as much oil as you would think.
