3.5 HP B&S Timing

I just rebuilt my lawnmower motor but did not check for timing marks when I took the cam out (I know...next time I will). There is a dot on the crank gear and a groove on the plastic cam gear. I lined these up but it will not run!!! Any ideas?

Have you made sure the valves are operating correctly? Hows the compression? Was the flywheel key replaced with a oem key and tightened down to spec?

I agree with v8driver,if you got the timing marks on the cam and crank lined up together and a new flywheel key, check youe valves. If you getting good fuel intake, compresssion, spark and exhoust,it should do something.
