Help with homelite

Homelite ST-155 string trimmer
15" cut
UT NO. 20573A
Ser NO. HK3120873

I dont know anything about this, I was given it last year because it wouldnt run. Last year I played around with it and never could get it to do anything. I took carb apart again for the 8th time and cleaned it really good and now it runs. But it smokes like crazy and burned alot of fuel real quick and quits after running for a while. Im not sure what the gas/oil mixture is but I used my chain saw gas and my saw doesnt smoke like this thing does. I think it maybe running rich because of the smoke and all the gas it burned so fast. So how do I adjust this, or is this the problem?

thanks alot

Look for screws labeled "H" and "L" and turn em in all the way till snug and back em out about one turn. Fine tune till it slightly smokes and revs up and down good.

The H screw is the one closest to the air filter.

Probablly took 50:1, you'd be good and safe with 40:1
