Craftsman 18hp twin valve looses power

After adjusting valves, (was running rough) , my craftsman lt 1000 looses power after about 2-3 minutes. Starts to run rough and knock.Turn off , let it cool down for an hour , starts up fine , then same thing. Any ideas how bad it is?

Are you sure you adjusted the valves right? Sounds like they might be too tight.

tried loosening from .005 to 006. Ran worse . Can't seem to get it to run with any power at all now. Just seems to sputter. Fuel filter everything else new and clean. I'm sure it's the valves or something inside.

Tried 10 adjustments. Finally gave up and called Sears turns out to be a bad cam shaft.Good news, factory defect, fixed for free.
