String trimmer edger attachment problem

I have a Sears string trimmer that will take attachments (edger, blower, tiller). Yesterday I tried to remove the edger blade to replace it. However, the little tab that one pushes in to lock the blade into place for removal snapped off as I was trying to remove the blade. Any ideas on how to get the blade off?

Use an impact gun.

Thanks for the response. Figured it out -- it would have helped if the user manual had noted that the attaching nut was left hand thread...
