homelite starter recoil problem

homelite starter recoil problem

on my timberman chainsaw my starter recoil spring went. ive got parts coming. where does the starter recoil spring attach to the starter pulley?

There should be a notch on the hub near the center of the pulley that the spring either hooks into, or catches on.

do i have to wind the spring in order to have it recoil after i start it?

You put the spring in place, install the rope pulley and retaining hardware, then wind up the pulley. With the pulley wound up, install the pull rope and then let the pulley wind the rope up.
