vertical engine for go kart?

is it possible to have a vertical engine put on a go-kart with a pulley? if so, where could i find these certain pulleys?

Depends how is it going to be mounted.You can't mount a vertical engine horazontally as you will seze the engine cause the oil won't be able to protect the engine. In fact I don't think it will even start.

you'll probably need a transmission. it'll convert the vertical motion to horizontal motion.

What engine are you working with? The crank shaft diameter at output will determine a lot of things for you.

its a 7hp motor, its from a friends lawnmower.

If your are doing this just to see if it can be done I would suggest that you check out the workings of a few different self-propelled mowers since they have vertical engine and drive the wheels, you can then get some ideas how to make it work in the same or similar way. I think some of the older Snappers were 5 ot 6 speed. Have a nice day. Geo
