Restart after storage

I'm trying to start a power washer W/Briggs& Straton 6HP 4 cycle thats been sitting for over a year maybe 2 W/gas tank drained. At 1st float stuck gas poured out was able to tap carb and free but now starts momentarily then stops after I let it sit awhile between try's. Is there any easy way to remedy?

It sounds to me like you'll have to clean the carb. I recommend removing it,taking it apart & soaking it in a bath type cleaner. Blow out with compressed air & install a new kit (with a float) & it'll be good as new

Althought the tank was empty there was obviously fuel left in the carb which evaporated and created the varnish which stuck the needle valve causing the fuel to overflow. As hopkin stated, it will need a good soak to remove the varnish and it will be good as new. Remove all rubber parts before putting the carb in the carb dip. Have a nice day. Geo
