Yard Machine string trimmer rope slips
I was given a 2 cycle trimmer, model 41AD-280G000. When I pull the rope to start it mostly slips. Is it an easy thing to pull off the starter housing assembly to inspect pully assembly? I suspect there is a broken part that needs replacement.

You'll probably need to replace the rope spool, which has the teeth that the starter pawls latch onto when starting it. Not a terribly hard job.

There IS a spring behind the spool. Just cut the rope at the pull handle and let it wind up into the housing so that the spring tension is gone when you remove the spool (to keep the spring from flying out at you).
