john deere lawn tractor keeps dying when engaged

my john deere garden tractor, model 813 sometimes has the battery light come on after starting and stays on no matter what the engine speed is, and when I try to engage the mower deck or put into forward or reverse it kills the engine.I do know that the seat safety has been jumped under the seat area.Only does this when battery light is on.Thanks for any advice.

Have you checked you battery cable connections to be sure they're clean and tight? Sounds like you're losing battery voltage to the mower.
