Need some advice on smoke blowing

I suppose to get a tiller in with a B & S Vanguard engine OHV m-303442, t-3342-01, c-92090811. The owner said that it started blowing blue smoke terribily. He said that it started all of a sudden. He said that it would blow a little smoke occansionally but it just started this. Anyone have any other ideas than a broken ring or badly scored cylinder?

over full of oil, blown cylinder head gasket, bad oil breather assy., any kind of leak into the crankcase will also cause oil to be burned by engine.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet on a blown head gasket or gas in the oil.

Thanks fellows for the suggestions. It's nice to have some other opinions before tearing into it.
