Breather tube from crank case dry rotted.

On the 12hp briggs im working on the rubber tube from the crank case vent to the carb is dry rotted and in pretty bad shape. Is this a big deal or should I get it replaced? I think when the needle valve wasnt seating right and gas ran through this tube it ate it up.

I'd replace it if I was you,If it gets totaly bkocked, excess air pressure from the crankcase would have no where to go.It works like a PVC valve on a car/truck engine.

also...... the carb literally sucks on the breather tube when the engine is running...... if the breather tube was missing, or cracked...... it'd be sucking in dirt... which is bad.

2 or 3 bucks, the small engine shop by me will probably want 20 bucks for it. Ill have to stop someplace else some time to get one, I put some silicone on it for now.
