linkage question

Hi guys, I need a little education on carb linkage on my 18 hp briggs twin. There are long linkages from the carb to the bottom of motor with springs and an screw type adjustment about mid way down. What does this adjustment do and when do you adjust it? I feel it has to do with the governor, but don't want to mess with it till I know what it's for. No problems with mower, just curious. Thanks, Jerbear

What model engine? Sounds like an Intek. You're probably looking at choke setting and governor linkage. These should never be adjusted or moved at all from their current positions. They are set at the factory, and are only adjusted during initial engine setup on the assembly line. If you were to get them out of whack, there is a procedure to reset, but they are basically settings rather than adjustments.
