Cub Cadet vs ??

I'm in the market for a new garden tractor this season.

Right now I am looking at the Cub Cadet 1500 models, either the GT 1554 or the SLT 1554.

The only major differences I see between them are the GT has a "Kohler Engine" and the SLT has a "Kohler Courage Engine" (whatever THAT means).
The GT has slightly larger tires, weighs more and is priced $300 higher.

Anyone with experience with the Cub Cadet mowers, and specifically either of these models?

I can't say with certainty but I believe these machines have the same engine, both Courage's. The GT has a heavier gauge deck - only slightly - and bigger rear tires, again only slightly. If you contact a Cub dealer and they tell you the GT has a Command engine then I'd go with that one. Otherwise I'd go for the savings of $300.

I checked one out today and indeed, the 1554 has the "Courage" engine.
I also found out that there's a new line coming out for 2007, but no one seems to know when or what's new about them. Cub Cadet's website also doesn't say anything about them.
