leaky carb

I have an old Duramark (Sears) 8 HP snowblower. When I filled it with gas, gas started leaking out of the carb. Not dripping, literally pouring out of the carb. Any idea what might be the cause?

thanks

Either float is stuck or needle and seat are bad.

Exclamation Float.

I agree. The float is stuck and the fuel is not being metered.
Does it start??
It should be flooding really bad.

still leaking

Just an update. I pulled the shroud on the snowblower. I got it running and sprayed carb cleaner into the carb....man, what a difference! It spewed smoke and complained but then ran so smooth. The carb is still leaking, not the float or the needle. A fine line of gas is squirting out where the bottom bowl meets the body. I'm guessing it's just a gasket that has worn out. Never done this but will try and replace it. Is there some kind of sealant I can use until the spring/ Bloody cold outside to be working on an engine....

Yes, it's the float and or needle and seat. The gas shouldn't even be high enough in the bowl to be leaking around it even if it had no gasket at all.
