Need Help With Drive Belt

Hi, All I'm new to the forum and I've got a small problem. I was mowing today and my drive belt jumped off and I'm not sure how it was routed can someone PLEASE HELP me? I've got a Yardmachine 42" cut 17 HP LT. Thanks in Advance.

Find your model and serial numbers under your seat and use them to find your owners manual here http://manuals.mtdproducts.com/mtd/public/list.jsp

It should have routing diagrams as well as instructions on changing the belt.

what is the path that voltage takes while turning the key? does it go to the safety switches first? does it go to the solenoid first? does it go to ground first? does it do it all at the same time? i have been studying the wiring diagram for my mower the past week and i am fascinated. how does it work? can you recommend any good books that i can read as far as small engine operation/repair? i prefer b/s if i disconnect the kill switch (from the magneto) this will bypass all of the safety switches and i can just choke it to kill the engine?Read More

Wrong Ext Cord Blowing Out Motors?

I apologize if you think this should be in the Electrical forum (if so, let me know). In 2005 I purchased an electrical trimmer and 100' ext cord from Sears at the same time. Used it fine until it just stopped working last summer. I was secretly glad b/c I wanted to upgrade. Today, I purchased another electrical trimmer, Ryobi Brand, and 5 mins into my first usage it, too, stopped working. Im prepared to return the trimmer, but I realized I used the same 100' ext cord as before. I looked a little closer and see that the 100' cord is 14 guage wire. The owners manual of my trimmer says the standard for a 100' should be 12 gauge. Could this have caused either or both trimmers to blow out?Read More
