Question Craftsman tiller throttle linkage

I have a craftsman tiller that won't start.

When I move the power lever, it has no effect on the linkage to the carb?

Am I way off base, thinking there is something missing from the linkage?

My mother in-law used it last year and I just got it back, so I'm not sure what happened to it inbetween.

Has gas going to the carb, new plug and oil, new air filter, compression.

I took some pictures but cant post at this time?

If you are looking at the linkage directly on the carb, you may not see any movement. The throttle controls the govenor linkage which then controls the carb linkage. The govenor does not react unless the engine is spinning.

Try a splash of fuel directly in the carb. If it fires and you have fuel to the carb, then the carb prolly needs cleaned.
If it still does not fire, then you need to check for spark.
