b&s 6.0 engine problems

Started cutting grass then half way into the yard, the mower first sounds like it starves for gas then shuts off. After about 10 pulls of the string i decide to disassemble to check the carb. Long story short, when I cleaned everything in the carb.,I noticed the the gasket from the air filter housing to the carb. was torn real bad. So,I decided throw it away and put some silicone in place of it. So what happens? still no start. Also I noticed that the primer doesn't shoot fuel in the carb. Is there replacment gaskets for this, and will this solve all my problems? I mean after cleaning the carburater real good?

Yes, there is a gasket for that, and it will not prime without it. You may now have silicone in the primer circuits of the carb and filter housing, so you might have to figure out how to clean that out.

I don't know if replacing the gasket will solve your running problems, however, since I don't know what's wrong with the mower. Does it have spark? Does it have compression?
