When I pull the cord it does not engage the engine. Just pulls freely. Any ideas what is wrong?

Sounds like the plastic, starter pulley is wore ouy or the starter pawls is.Or the springs (on the flywheel) that through the starter pawls out to engauge with the starter pulley is weak, broken, or frozen in the disengauge position.
