i need a sprocket!

I'm hoping to replace the 8-tooth sprocket (#786047) off of an old, almost-junked Craftsman 502.254172 riding mower with a 10- or 12-tooth sprocket. See part 19 at http://www.odref.com/peerless/700-SERIES/700-700-073.PDF . Note, the bore is geared, not smooth or slotted.

Any suggestions?

7 tooth sprocket 786077
8 tooth sprocket 786047

perfect... thanks!

can i be reasonable assured that if i find one of those sprockets on-line that it will 1) have a geared core rather than smooth or slotted, and 2) that it will fit using the existing (original) chain?

Those are Tecumesh #'s for their model 700 series tranny. I can't find a picture of any of those mumbers to verify the bore design, however the Peerless book shows all 700's, 500's, 400's and 350's as having a splined output shaft.

This is a 2002 model with B/S engine mod# 406777. Was mowing fine, ran out of gas, refilled, restarted, mowed about 20 feet and it died. Restarted and played with choke until gas pumped up(?). Turned mower on and seemed to be fine, then all of a sudden the engine started running wide open and I do mean open. Had to turn key off or probably blow engine. Pulled hood to look at linkage and could not for the life of me figure out how the linkage is supposed to work on this engine. I'm hoping someone had this same problem or is familiar with this engine and can tell me what the problem is. The only way I can idle it down is to manually reach in and push the linkage up so that it contacts the idle screw. Downloaded the parts list/diagram from B/S but it didn't have a good view of what I needed to see. I can't tell that anything is missing. I am having trouble with my Ryobi 780R..and hoping someone can help. It was running this year, and then just died and I have not been able to get it going again. I have checked and replaced the spark plug..my tester shows I am getting good spark. I have replace the fuel lines. I have rebuilt the carb and the plug is wet, so it is getting gas. Compression is good. The switch seems to be working, the plug sparks when it is on and does not spark when turned off. I have removed the muffler..it is clear and the ports are clear as well. The machines does not even attempt to run....You pull and pull but nothing. I have even used that sure start spray from the local hardware store...but nothing..it does not attempt to start....
