Craftsman 10hp Rider - Turning problem

Hello all, I'm having a problem with my Craftsman 10hp 30" cut rider. I bought it used and I think the model is 27011 or 30501...I'll check to see if I can find a model # on the machine when I get home. It is green and has the engine in back.
The problem is that it will turn very sharp to the left, but when I turn to the right, the turn radius is very large. I've looked at the steering mechanisms and don't see anything bent, but I also don't know what to look for.
Any advice?

Well something must have bent...unless someone took the steering assembly apart and didn't put it back right. (maby in an attempt to tighten loose steering)

Pictures of the steering assembly would be very helpful. Photobucket is a free and easy way to host pictures

msidan thanks for the reply. I'll take some pictures when I get home.
Everything in there where the little gear turns is covered in grease/dirt...I'll need to clean it off to work on it.

I'd sure like to see where the steering gear was in relation to the cam and the condition of the teeth. Did you just buy this? Go to www3.sears.com , put in your model number, look at the steering section. Clean that area where the little gear turns and see what you've got.
