featherlite weedeater problems

we baught one of these stupid things and we are having a problem with it staying/starting running. It acts like it is flooded but after sitting for a week it still is ha ha. The primer pump seems like it is stuck when you push on it takes forever for it to come back up. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

How is it supposed to unflood itself by just sitting there. Take out the spark plug and pull the starter to unflood it. Also, see if loosening the fuel cap helps the primer bulb.

In the (not so distant) future I would recommend a higher quality trimmer such as Echo or Stihl . Both offer models around $160 (at least around here)

You probably need to clean the carb and install a diaphgram/gasket kit. First check the routing on the fuel lines(draw a picture or something) as they will probably need replacing also. Remove the carb an find the mfg, model, type etc. It will probably be a Zama or Walbro both of their sites have a lot of good info about their carbs under Service/Aftermarket, www.zamacarb.com and www.walbro.com. Before disassembling the carb screw all adjustment screws to seat for reference during reassembly. Disassemble the carb and soak it in a good bath type cleaner then blow out all holes, cracks and crevases with brake parts cleaner(it doesn't leave a residue). If you are installing a complete rebuild kit I always suggest using the original metering arm unless it is very worn because it has the proper height adjustment. Reassemble, set all adjustments as you found them and you should be good to go. Have a good one. Geo
