Help with a Toro 8-30 Rider with "Slipping" Trans

I have a Toro 8-30 Riding Mower with a Tecumseh 5-speed trans that won't move up a decent grade without shifting to the lowest gear and crawling up.

It's as though the belt was slipping but it's OK...

THis doesn't seem like the most robust trans around, but I'm wondering if I could "fix/rebuild" anything inside the trans to make it shift and work more positively.

Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Thanks

Unless you actually feel teeth jumping in the tranny, or the chain jumping, then it's the belt slipping. Sounds like it's worn, oily, or both.
