ractorStill Backfiring

My Cub Cadet lawn tractor, year 2004, model LT 1024 with a 24HP Briggs twin cylinder Model 416717 Type 0302E1 engine. Started backfiring when you speed the engine up and/or put under load such as turning the mower deck on. Does not smoke, but one spark plug is burning clean and the other has a dry black deposit. Any new ideas?? Thanks !!!

I suggest removing the carburetor, disassembling it, and cleaning it out thoroughly. Use a good bath type cleaner to soak it in once the plastic parts are removed. Replace any O-rings that need to be replaced (both main jets have one to hold them in place and they could leak, or shrink and cause the jet to be loose in it's seat).
