Hub stuck
Got a 1983 Lawn Boy and trying to remove the muffler to clean the ports. The blade hub is rusted to the shaft.
I sprayed it with liquid wrench, tried to get it off with a rubber mallet and even tried a wheel puller to get it off but it will not budge.
How can I get it off without damaging the shaft??
Thank you.

I'll assume that you have a 2-stroke Lawn-Boy and with such the blade hub will be tapered to the crankshaft and is sometimes more difficult to remove than is a keyed hub. It is unlikely that you'll ruin the crankshaft so go ahead install the puller and use some heat on the blade hub, as well, to help to remove it.

No luck on gaulted hub!
I heated the hub and used a wheel puller and I still can not get the hib off the shaft. Used a block of wood behind it and kept on hitting it still it will not budge?
Any more suggestions

Sometimes you gotta really heat it up almost red hot to get 'em to break loose.. I think penetrating lube, heat and that puller is going to be your best bet. Have you ever tried PB Blaster? I've had better luck with that than any other Penetrating lube.

I'm not sure if Lawnboy engines use bushings or if it actually has seals.. whats the model number of the mower and we can look and see if it has rubber seals or just bushings. I know I said red-hot, but I dont mean glowing red. You just have to get it really good and hot -- and it also helps to point your torch at the part you want to *expand* as heat makes metal expand. I have had good luck with spraying oil or penetrating lube on the part you want to keep cool (ie: the crankshaft itself) after heating the hub up. I hope that makes sense..

To remove the blade adapter, use a monkeywrench,
screw the nut back on to protect the threads. Open
the wrench so that the top jaw is over the backside
of the blade adapter, and the bottom jaw is on the nut/shaft.
Then just smack the handle of the wrench, and the adapter will pop off.
Don't use heat.

No luck with hub
Well I have never run into anything so stubborn in my years!
I tried the monkey wrench and hammer and started to bend the hub!
Still no luck. It did not budge!
I am stumped.
