float needle??
Bare with me- I'm learning as I go-- the last post I read and can't find anymore was talking about the float bowl and nut screw-
Anyway I have a craftsman Snowblower model # 536 886530 code # 125602971. ( 5/22 ) It seems to be flooding it self out and after taking the float bowl off it looks like there should be a needle or pin that sits on top of the float at the area just above the pivot area. because that is where all the gas seems to be poring out of. so if that is the case, is there suppose to be some kind of needle or pin up there regulating the flow of gas in accordance with the float. Am I thinking right here or no- any help would be great full. I last saw a TECUMSEH post from 2001 and it seemed helpful, so if this does not get answered in 6 years than it might be a mute point. Tick tock Tick tock- it just keeps flooding itself out so it won't run all else is fine- Any Ideas??
Thanks

Yes, there should be a needle right above the tab on the float. It rests on a rubber seat in the bore where the needle goes to shut off the gas. Sometimes this seat gets old and needs to be replaced. Also a common problem with those is that the float gets a pinhole and gets gas in it and doesn't float anymore. Take it off and shake it near your ear. If you hear gas sloshing in it, it's bad.

WOW this thing does work- And yes when I did take the Float off and you could here a very very slight swooshing in there. It does float but barely.
This float looks like it is made of brass-
I see no needle going up into that tube. does it rest some how on the tab of the float?? Would you recommend just getting a new carb or trying to find the new parts??? Any suggestions on either plan.
THANK YOU THANK YOU !!! AGAIN
Sincerely,
Dog Runner. Wis.

If you haven’t done this already, or, not familiar with finding info on your unit, go to
http://www3.sears.com/
enter in upper left model # box: 536.886530 this brings up the thrower construction:
click on Engine Components, parts list; this brings up engine info.
You’ll see this unit uses Tecumseh engine model HS50-67326K (how old is this thing?)
Put HS50-67326K into the Sears model # box, view parts list, go to ref 380, your carb model is 632107A, put this in Sears model box, shows diagram and parts list for part numbers you might need, e.g. new float.
Also, go here for Tec service manual covering your engine.

1st manual, 692509
this should get you started,
hope this helps,
thanks,

The float is bad.
If you don't see a needle, then apparently is is gone. (Someone else messing with this thing prior to you?).
Buying a new carb isn't that expensive, and is much less trouble and worry. On the flip side, if the carb isn't varnished or gummed up much, and you want to fix it yourself, it should be easy enough. I suggest replacing the needle, float, and seat at minimum. If it has been sitting up with old gas in it, I reccomend removing the carb and reconditioning it, replacing the above parts and the fuel nozzle and "o" rings.

OK Guy's I went to the sight and found the Manual and have a good understanding on what I'm looking at now. Very impressive on the directions in finding that- Thank you -
I did buy a new float and a float bowl gasket , along with the float needle.
I put that little wire clip on the float needle and float and some how got it to stay on. ( still not sure how it suppose to go on. And put everything together, I thought I solved my problems but still no action. I'm thinking I didn't get the needle in or on correctly- It can't be much. After getting a dirty look from the Commander in Chief[ l about the gas smell around the kitchen table theres not to many parts in this thing. It has good gas, good spark, ?? I think it's got to be in the way I put the float needle together. I do believe I'm getting closer because I at least stopped all the gas from rushing out. Up-dates to follow-
Just had our 2nd 6" snow fall in a week with another 4" to come in tomorrow. Got to love it.
At least I'm getting my Cardio work out.

The clip on the needle just kind of pulls the needle down when the float drops. It doesn't really keep the needle connected to the float (it's a loose fit, not a connection). Does the float and needle move up and down, allowing gas to flow and then shut off?

Mr Cheese- The float and needle do move up and down but not sure if it's working correctly inside the FL Bowl. I'm still having a small leak somewhere because it still doesn't run and gas is dripping out a little bit, as if the bowl is over filled. . not sure why. will have to re-do it and see if it leaks or not. if anything I'm learning about this machine. I believe the little white round circle , rubber , round thing up in the gas tube is ok. I do have a new one but don,t know if I can get the old one out without breaking the gas tube it,self.

The needle is still not seating well enough to stop the flow of fuel. This is most likely because you need to change the seat. You can remove it from the needle side of the carb, not the fuel inlet. Install the new seat with the ridged side down when looking at the carb turned upside down.
