craftman sbowblower won't stop going forward

Help, I just bought a new snowblower 15.5 B&S, 30" craftman. Worked fine for 10 minutes but then it made squealing noise like a belt but still worked good. When I finished the driveway went to stop and realized that I had no tension on traction drive lever and the machine would not stop but kept moving forward. I had no chioce but to hit the off switch. Now the gear shifter will not move positions and wheels will not roll forward or backwards so I had to drag it out of the way. Any thoughts would be great!

Can you post the model number please? It sounds like a tension spring broke.
