Coleman powermate 3250 Generator

Coleman powermate 3250 Generator

I have a Coleman Powermate 3250 generator that blew a con. rod through the block. What are the chances of getting warranty service on this machine? I do not have a proof of purchase anymore.
Generator model: pm0543250 serial: E18300017E
Briggs & Stratton 120212 0118E8 0631388

I'm told they carry a 2 year consumer warranty but I don't know if they will honor this warranty based on not having a receipt anymore.

If no reciept, they will base it on the serial number. If it sat on a shelf somewhere for 2 yrs before you purchased it, yer probably gonna be SOL.

You need to call the company and find out their policy. They will be able to tell you when it was manufactured.

Based on the engines code number, I am assuming it was mfg'ed March 13 2006, so by rights I should be okay, right? I guess I'm just trying to be a little hopeful before the Briggs service place near my house opens back up.. Thanks anyway.

Yeah, it's built in '06. They should warranty it unless they find reason to believe it was neglect (low oil).

The funny thing is The engine has low-oil shutdown electronics, so I dont think thats an issue. I did drain the oil out of th engine, but there is still some in there.. I didn't want it leaking all over my truck when I haul it down there. I hope they do warranty it. Thanks for your reply.

I imagine the low-oil shutdown would have you covered. I think they'll warranty it. Good luck, and let us know if they do or not!

I brought it in today and the guy at my Briggs dealer gave me a hard time about not having a receipt anymore. (no surprise) But he also said that B&S won't warranty it without a proof of purchase; however I called B&S before I brought it in and he said they go off the date code if no P.o.P. The dealer also said they were gonna hit me for $35 to even look at it but I doubt they'll charge me if the warranty claim goes through. I've got a ton of faith in Briggs and I'm sure they'll come through for me.. I'll post back when I find out what they're going to do.. On the subject of warranty, which company generally is the "best" with handling warranty claims? This is the first piece of equipment I've had new enough to even have a warranty.

I took my little generator to a different dealer that I find to be better to work with. As of today, there is a new engine on order and sounds like the warranty will cover it. Has anyone ever been denied a legitimate warranty claim?

Brand new engine, all warrantied with virtually no questions asked. (2nd dealer I went to).
