seized engine in pressure washer
I have (had) a 6.0 hp briggs pressure washer that I borrowed from my father in law. I cranked it and about 5 minutes later it seized up on me. I heard a loud "clank" noise then nothing. I went to check the dipstick and smoke was coming from the oil resevoir and there was no oil. Did I just buy a new pressure washer or can this one be repaired. It's a model that only costs about $300 new. Thanks.

Looks like you just bought a new washer, By the time you were to repair this one (if possible) you wouldn't be far from the new one.
If you only ran it 5 mins. your father in-law done most of the damage himself before you got it, Split the cost with him and call it a day...

You just paid the tuition to learn that you should never ever start an air cooled engine without pulling the dipstick and checking the oil. Most small engines run on a quart or less of oil and are very sensitive to low oil levels. Make it a habit to ALWAYS check the oil before starting a motor, it only takes 10 seconds.
