Brake return spring on Craftsman riding mower
Hello, New to the forum hope to find it helpful, I have an older craftsman riding mower Model # 917.252500 the brake return spring is missing, I ordered the new spring but cant figure out where it hooks to, I see a notch in the lever but it seems to be on the wrong side to make the arm return, does anyone have a picture or diagram of this, the sears site it not helpful at all.
Thanks
Eric

Eric,
The spring hooks to the slot you mentioned on the lever and the other end hooks to the front screw holding the brake assembly on the trans....The brake rod pushes the lever to the rear of the machine thus the "Return spring" pulls it back toward the front of the machine.

thats kind of what I was thinking but it doesnt look right the spring seems bound up, maybe thats why it came off to begin with? I will give it a go and see, maybe I can figure out how to post a picture.
