18.5 briggs & stratton

My engine is smoking and I am leaking oil out of a round black thing on the left side of the engine, in the middle of the round device is a small round screen. There is a gas hose going to it and a line coming fron the oil resivore and a hose going to the carb from it.
please help, I'm clueless

That device is the fuel pump, It sounds like the diaphragm inside has got a hole in it letting oil come out of the vent and fuel enter the crankcase.

Check the oil level and smell it, If it's over full and smells like fuel replace the fuel pump and change the oil.
