Honda HRM215 Hydro Tranny question

Had to change broken deck on my mower, Drained the hydrostatic trany via 2 hex bolts on side. Replace and refilled, no worky...
THIS IS INDEED the Honda Hydrostatic tranny, same as on teh hrx etc. Mower was purchased in 1997
USed the honda hydro oil, ,

The pulley and attached shaft that inserts via top, was movable ..up and down, when ti was out of mower. dont know it this matters.

MY question,
1. What is proper position to have mower/tranny in when putting in the 4 oz of oil.
2. Is it correct to put the oil in through the hex bolt, or what ever.

3. How far should the engagement arm be able to move.

4. ANy trouble shooting advice.

ANy help appriciated.

4 oz is all it requires? Is that all that drained out?

I have no literature on that tranny or mower. Being a hydro unit, it may have an air-purging process. Generally you would put the tranny in bypass mode (so you can push it), crank up the mower, put it in fwd for a few seconds, then reverse in a few seconds, then engage the tranny with the wheels off the ground and let it work a short while to purge the air from the pump.

Sorry I'm not any more help than that. I haven't ever had to perform that procedure on the unit you have. Are you sure the belt is on? Does the tranny have any identifying tags on it?
