craftsmen riding tractor

Last summer, my tractor was idling, then it started smoking, I quickly shut it off thinking that it was the motor, but later discovered that it would start back up it just wouldn't go. at all.
I'm guessing its the gear drive, but I know not a thing about tractors. Can you help me pin point where to look? What to look for? Is it belt driven? Or transmission?
Thank you. Model # is 917270860

In the below pic check belt #57 and make sure it's still on the engine pulley #63, Idler pulley #38 and the hydro trans-axle pulley #3.....

Check the belt closely all the way around for any burn/wear marks, Also make sure the idler pulley #38 spins freely and doesn't wobble on the mounting screw.

Replace any bad/worn parts as needed, If a new belt is installed make sure it's routed on the proper side of all the belt guides.

Good Luck
