Rebuilding 8hp Briggs??

I am rebuilding a Briggs 8hp motor off my tiller. Can someone tell me how much torque for rod and head bolts?

Thanks in advance

If we know what engine you have (model#), yes we can.

Rod bolts are going to be 165 inch pounds for aluminum cylinder engines, 190 inch pounds for engines with the cast iron cylinder. Exactly the same for head bolts, including the difference for aluminum versus cast iron.

That's an old engine you've got...1972. With a little work, those oldies can be made to run soooo smooothly.

I didn't even realize my post count had reached that point. Thanks for the appreciation!
