briggs engine for old scooter

I have a briggs motor off an old scooter mdl# 143302 typ# 502921 ser# 307014. Any info would be a big help I am tring to decide if this engine is worth rebuilding or if I should just replace with a new engine. I am hoping it is from the 50's - 60's 6hp which would be correct for this model. How much would it cost to have someone rebuild my short block?
Thank you
Bill

Are you certain that the first number of the last set is a 3? Maybe an 8?

Hard to tell how much it would cost to rebuild not knowing what parts are in spec, and what parts aren't. Usually a rebuild on an engine that size isn't very cost effective versus buying a new engine.

If you have a Harbor Freight Tool store in your area, their flyer says they have new horizontal shaft engines OHV 6.5hp $129, 11hp $249 and 13hp $299. It doesn't take many parts to add up to $129. Have a good one. Geo
